Error Merging Contacts

While trying to merge contacts I am getting the following error:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
is not of type String

I am using CiviCRM v. 2.0.6 because I have a 1.0x Joomla site.

Please advise.

Can you enable your debugging and paste backtrace here. We have added lot of improvements for "Contact Merging" in CiviCRM v2.1. So would recommend to upgrade.
