Event/Member Management System
November 02, 2008, 11:46:28 am
It took a while but it was worth it :)

On my search for an Event registration/attendance system I looked at
DT Register
http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,2037/Itemid,35/

Attend Events
http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,989/Itemid,35/

EVENT REGISTRATION PRO
http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,3458/Itemid,35/

Event Manager
http://drupal.org/project/event_manager

While any of those would have done it, they are all currently missing one essential feature in my view.
The ability for people to see who is registered for an event.

I have not yet investigated
http://drupal.org/project/signup

I run a sports club that holds events.
We have loan equipment available.
We also need to collect emergency contact information for participants.

-What does it do now?
Allows anonymous users to register for events. Per event setting.
But does not allow them to see the list of participants.

Registered users can see the list of participants.
Their saved info is pre filled in the necessary sections of the form.

Admins can export the list of participants.

Limited capacity events.

Online automated payment. Not used in this instance.

-What is does not do.
Count off the loan equipment.
There can be more people wanting loan gear than there is available.

Allow participants to cancel their reregistration.
It is on the roadmap for a future release.

Could be useful to you :-)
It will save us a heap of paperwork.

How to use the new system

To register you have the option of going straight to the event.
Or view a detailed list of events via the event manager.
For members that do not need to change any information, you can register in 4 clicks from the front page.

The event manager allows you to view a list of registered attendees.

All pages from this point are encrypted.
First registration screen.

On the admin side.

View list of participants/registered attendees.
Select export

The csv file that is exported.

Some formatting required but nothing a template won't fix.

Any questions? ;-)

While this is setup on Drupal, CiviCRM is also available for joomla.
Which is what I started this project with.
