What would be the best way to input into CiviCase right now?
November 04, 2008, 02:15:27 am
Hi there,

From what I can see on the wiki, forum and issue tracker and so on, the work you are doing on CiviCase is really great.  I'm working with a couple of organisations that would like to use similar functionality and am wondering what the best way to get their needs met is.

I appreciate that this project has got quite far already, and (think I am right in saying that) the funding from this development has come from one organisation and must therefore be quite led by their needs but imagine you'd still like some input even if you can't fit it in to the upcoming release or would need funding to take it forward.

So the question is, what is the best way to input?  Is it to write a use cases in this forum?  Comment on alpha releases, or some other way, actually doing some development?! and how are any of these methods likely to fit in with release schedules, etc.

Thanks a lot and have a great election day!

Michael

[edit - just read your latest blog post on this http://civicrm.org/node/473 - must have started this one just before you wrote that, and I think it answers just about all of the questions.  Look forward to having a play with the alpha release.  I'd be happy to run a session over here to get some feedback on your workflows, etc. if you think that would be helpful]

Yes, we'd definitely like to get your input!   You're correct in everything you've said in your post.  The development is being led by one organisation at the moment, and we're working toward a deadline.  But we are absolutely interested in hearing about other potential uses.  I'd love to have a chance to bring you up to speed.  I'm actually leaving tonight for the UK, arriving tomorrow.  I'll be in London until Thursday morning.  If you have any spare time, we could meet up and discuss what's going on.   I sent you an email to this effect just now.

Hi Andrew,

That sounds brilliant.  A client of mine came up with some great ideas on recording activities a couple of weeks ago, and I realised could be very usefully be thought of as cases.

Will be great to find out where you are going on with the CiviCASE project, and see if/how we can fit these ideas together somehow at some point!
