I'm getting the same error.  At this point, I believe it has something to do with the "spouse of" relationship.  Are you mapping any relationships like "spouse of" when you get the error?  Thanks for posting.  Look forward to seeing what people say.

NOpe - mine were dead simple imports of updated phone and email using Internal Id for matching. Hit it 3 times in a row, then 4th one went sweetly.

I'm getting the same error, though I never make it to 100%. One of the files consistently gets stuck at 1100 records, no matter how absurdly high I set the php memory_limit (currently 192M) and max_execution_time (currently 900). Another, smaller file dies at 250 records, so it seems it's something in the data, and not resource limitations, but I don't see anything obviously out of place.

Anyone have any ideas how to solve this...?

Here's my full backtrace:

We're getting the same error. Did anyone figure out what was causing it?

We're running the newest stable version (2.1.2) with Drupal 6.

I'm not even trying to import a big file - just 99 contacts with about 12 or so columns. It's part of a file with more than 3,000 contacts, but I was trying just the first 99 rows since we were having trouble.

1. Can you check your apache error log and see if there are any errors reported there

2. Can you check the CiviCRM.log file (in files/civicrm/upload) and see if any clues there

3. Can you reproduce the same behavior on demo

thanx

For the record, I was able to complete the import mentioned above on my local workstation (Ubuntu LAMP, CiviCRM 2.1.2), and then simply replaced the CiviCRM db with my own on the production server. (Mac MAMP, CiviCRM 2.1.1 when the import failed, upgraded to 2.1.2 to match the new DB.)

So I had assumed the problem (whatever it was) was fixed in 2.1.2, but maybe not if jsimonis is still having it.

hi all

I ran into this same problem, after much googling and stuffing around I may have a solution.

Essentially in the field mapping (Step 2) I was importing different sets of data into the same field.

Ie first name and last name in the import file would both be going into first name or something along those lines.

After fixing up any double ups the import worked a treat.

Hope it works for others.

Cheers
Mike

This error can occur when there is nothing wrong with your import, if mysqld's wait_timeout is set too short. In this case you may see the error "PHP Warning:  MySQL server has gone away" in your apache logs.

Thanks Dave, this seems to have fixed my import problem.
