Issue with ACL set up - can view contact data but not edit
November 07, 2008, 07:28:54 am
Using CiviCRM 2.1.1 and Drupal 6.x

1) Created a role in ACL called Coaches

2) Gave that role EDIT operation to edit a group of contacts.  The group is called "BCES".  The role that can edit this group is the COACHES role (per above)

3) The ACL role of Coaches is assigned to the BCES Coaches group

4) When I  login as a coach via Drupal (my Drupal user is part of the BCES Coaches group that has the ACL role of Coaches assigned to it) I can access CiviCRM and I can see the groups and View the contacts but when I click EDIT, I get an ACCESS DENIED.  I've tried changing the Drupal permissions for CiviCRM for this role and nothing allows me to EDIT the contact.

This seems like a bug/glitch.  Any suggestions?

The only permissions I have selected in the Drupal role are:

ACCESS CiviCRM

ACCESS CONTACT DASHBOARD

So when I login as the user who is part of the Coaches ACL role, they see the contact records there  supposed to see but they can't EDIT them.

can you also give that group the global "Add Contacts" permission. This is a bug in civicrm and we will fix it in 2.2

Excellent! That solved the problem!  Thanks!

We may want to post this somewhere in the documentation for ACLs.
