Will I able to use CiviCRM Modules with CiviCRM Standalone?
November 07, 2008, 11:22:34 am
I just learn about CiviCRM and trying to find out the functional difference between CiviCRM Drupal and Standalone version.
Our website is hosted by ISP, they provide MySQL 4.1.22, PHP 5.2.6.

Main question is if I will be able to use CiviCRM Modules with CiviCRM Standalone?
Modules like CiviContribute, CiviEvent, CivilMail and CiviPledge are very important for our nonprofit organization helping unemployed people.
I couldn't find clear information if those modules are build in to Standalone version?
So Second Question is do I have to install them separately and how do I do it?

Those are very basic questions and this is my recent level of CiviCRM experience for now.
I promise that it will change with Your (The Respectful other Much More Knowledgeable Members of the Forum) answer.
Thank you in advance.

CiviCRM without CiviContribute, CiviEvent, CiviMail, etc wouldn't be very functional :)

So I would venture to say yes, those are all included.

However, pls note that CiviCRM 2.1 and 2.0 require MySQL 5.0.x or higher with INNODB support, and there is no standalone version prior to these releases. So you will need to either change web hosts or find out if they can give you a mysql 5 server. otherwise, you'd need to install an older version of drupal/joomla with civicrm that can function on an older mysql (i wouldn't recommend this).

second, civimail is not easy to configure on a shared host and sometimes isn't possible, so i can't say whether or not you'll be able to do that. you'll need to look at civimail docs to figure that out/test it.

And fyi that you can test out the standalone version (and all the features) at http://standalone.demo.civicrm.org (you'll need to have/get an openid to test it).
