can't get phone numbers to import into existing contacts

hi

Am finally trying to import our camp cooinda database to civicrm 2.0.2

Importing new contacts work fine, but having trouble with phone numbers for existing individuals in the database.

The default location is set to 'Home', but whether I use 'Update' or 'Fill' in the import settings, I can't get even a single column of phone numbers imported, even though the fields in the civi database are currently blank.

Using the 'Fill' option, I can get new phone numbers added to an alternative location (eg 'Work') but I cannot even achieve that much with the 'Update' option.

A similar but not identical test works as it should on the 2.1 sandbox.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong..

Have look, it's probably the bug you've experienced. Not sure you can backport it.

Thanks. Yes, it does appear to be the same bug.

I put in a dummy Home Phone number for one individual, and then when I ran the import it successfully imported a mobile number for that individual. Phone numbers for other individuals did not get imported (as before).

The new Home-Mobile number overwrote the dummy Home-Phone number rather than being added as an additional number, which I guess is expected with the 'Update' option.

At least I know what's going on now.

a wee note of caution from experience, though it may be unrelated

when i did an import, even though the column header for Phone - Primary - Phone had come from an export, when it imported it did not select Phone Primary Phone, but only Phone Primary and left the third option box blank - which i failed to spot, so instead of importing to 'mobile' it just overwrote what i had in Primary Home - fortunately i was just testing, and fixed for the main import. See image if my explanation is muddy.

I've experienced it as well on 2.0, but works fine on 2.1. Can you try on the demo ?
