Opt Out vs Unsubscribe - how to hide one
November 09, 2008, 06:49:21 pm
We use the OptOutURL and UnsubscribeURL.  I can see how both can be useful and many organizations might want both, but few in our organization understand the difference and both must be on the email for it to be accepted.

While we must include both, we don't have to have both visible, so we've made the link text for the unsubscribeURL be just one blank space and it effectively is invisible.  OptOutURL is still there and we say "Opt Out from all HCAC Emails".

If we ever get more sophisticated, we may later let subscribers pick and choose, but for now they are either all in or all out.  In the past when people picked unsubscribe, they really wanted opt out.

Works for us - thought I'd share.
