Search for non-members
April 25, 2007, 01:20:54 pm
Well, maybe I'm just really dense today, but I'm having difficulty doing a search.  I'm using the CiviMember module and I want a list of all non-members.  Not just expired members, but records in CiviCRM that do not have a membership record associated with them.  I just can't figure out how to do this...  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you!

Ben

Ok, I figured out a way to do this, but it's pretty klugy (is that how you spell it?!)...  Seems like this kind of query would be a pretty basic one to have in a core membership system.

Anyway, what I did was create a group called Prospects and add all Individual records to it.  Then went back and found all Individuals with any type of membership status and removed them from the Prospect group.  So the Prospect group is left with everyone who has never had a membership record attached to them.  Only problem is that now I have to manage the Prospect group whenever I add a membership record.  Oh well, job done...

Ben:

We are working on improving and extending search functionality on a regular basis (pretty much with every release).

However as an open source project, we do rely on the community to participate and to "scratch their own itch". If the below is important to you, consider contributing a patch and/or hiring a developer to build this functionality
