Okay, I really don't know much of anything about Joomla or Civi, I just got roped into helping a friend who runs a non-profit figure out what is going wrong with his site because I have experience with other CRM platforms.  I've been scouring Google for the past 3 hours for anything resembling this problem and I haven't found anything helpful thus far.

All that being said, here's the problem... the database was somehow deleted (I don't even want to know...), and was then restored from a backup.  Since that time, any and all front-end links to Civi functionality will not work.  He has several profiles set up that are intended to allow users to add themselves as volunteers (contacts) in the Civi database.  So, for example, there is a "register" link... when you click this, this is the error:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.

The requested Profile (gid=6) is disabled OR it is not configured to be used for 'Profile' listings in its Settings OR there is no Profile with that ID OR you do not have permission to access this profile. Please contact the site administrator if you need assistance.
This same error occurs for all Civi links, with the gid changing accordingly.  The frustrating part is that all the profiles seem to work fine from the Civi back end.

They are indeed set up as Joomla menu items, however, creating new links in a new menu nets the same result.

I've exactly the same problem, is there any solution?

In my case, I think maybe it was an issue with our web host or something... because the problem suddenly went away without me doing a thing!
