Configuring access to CiviCRM Event functions for registered users
November 17, 2008, 02:31:39 am
Hello, support, i am newbe
Use: Drupal 6.6 russian + CivicCRM 2.1.1

I am having several problems with configuring access to CiviCRM Event  functions for registered users.

1) I created new type of events, custom data fields for it, added several events, configured drupal Authenticated role to access civicrm event module (allow them attend events and view it)
then configured menu options for my users - and here some issues arised.

When user want  view table of events by clicking Manage events (not in contact dashboard) he see the the tabla with 1)Name of event 2)Dates 3)Fees   4) How many attended   ...  and the latest column is  Configure.
So, user can change event options!!!   But i think only admin can do this!

I searched drupal access to find  How to restrict  configuring events for simple users  but found nothing.
There is no such detalization an ACL
So Is it possible with civicrm ?

2)
Thee second question: how to create menu link to users contact information?
I mean i need universal link to page where he can see their activities, events, ...
and I cannot use link ended cid=103   because user with another id will not be allowed to view own profile.

3)  Is there any Event modules for Drupal to show events like google calendar ?

4)
Where can i find instructions how to localize Civicrm to russian language?   I installed russian but it is not full and there some logical mistakes.
I opened .mo file in Macromedia dreamwiever but i see only terrible abrakadabra in 1/2 of the file, and the other 1/2 is english words, that characterize interface of englesh civicrm...   ???

So i need simple guide like: do this, then do this, then  write  События instead of Events  and done with localization.

Is there a workaround or resolution to the issue above I am seeing the same behaviour. I believe registered attendees should not be able to configure events

Most / All of the permissioning in controlled via Drupal permissions.

You might want to describe in more detail what your setup is and what behavior you are seeing

thanx

I want authenticated users to have the ability to view events and optionally to see if they are registered. I enabled CiviEvents and CiviCrm for authenticated users. Now when I login as authenticated user and go to CiviEvents I see the ability to configure the event which does not seem right since I would not want my authenticated users to modify the event.

You dont need to give either of those two permissions to the auth user. You should give them:

register for events
access contact dashboard (they can see what events they are in on the user dashboard screen. check: http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/user?reset=1)
access profile listing and forms (if using profiles)
access custom data (if using custom data in profiles)

Thanks for the quick responses that worked perfectly.

Is there a .tpl file I can edit for the contact dashboard. I do not want people to see the group section on the contact dashboard.

I discovered by looking at the source page of the contact dashboard I could figure out the .tpl file used. Certainly makes searching for the .tpl file for a screen much easier.

Thanks

You do not have to customized the tpl to hide the Groups section on the contact dashboard. Simply 'uncheck' that option under Administer CiviCRM >> Global Settings >> Site Preferences

On the demo, you can see this at: http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/setting/preferences/display?reset=1
