Using Contact Dashboard to edit details for related Orgs, Household and Individs
November 18, 2008, 03:35:06 pm
This takes over from discussion here http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,5238.0.html.

1/ I am trying to decipher what the Permissions need to be to enable an Individual to Edit Contact details for an Org Household or Individ that they have permissions to do so via Relationships (which is a great step forward - thanks)

I am hoping this feature can work from the Contacts My Dashboard without needing to give them Access civiCRM (only way I can get it working so far)

2/ As I explore this function I hit this error when I tried updating the PHone number for a Household that the person has permission for - Fatal error: Class 'CRM_Contact_Form_Household' not found in /home/www-home/livingstreets.org.nz/civicrm/v2.1/CRM/Contact/Form/RelatedContact.php on line 170

Is this a bug?

Just noting that for issue 2/ the update information is being saved, so it seems to be failing to refresh to /civicrm/user?reset=1  -- make sense?

issue 2 is now fixed and will be part of 2.1.2. I'll let dgg or someone more knowlegeable answer 1. I thought we just required: "access Contact Dashboard"
for folks to access the contact dashboard

cheers for 2/

certainly it has been stated that Dashboard is all that is required for the Contribution side of things. Doesn't seem to do what is required for editing via Dashboard - which btw is a great step forward. Now we just need to move on towards being able to let Person A in Org A set up new 'employees of Org A' and delete Relationships for people who are no longer 'employees of Org A' ;-)

Peter - I just retested editing a related organization's details from the contact dashboard of a user who did NOT have "access CiviCRM" permissions using 2.1.2 codebase. I did not have any access related issues - I could get to the form and save new values. However, this was fixed during the 2.1.2 release cycle so you won't see the fix unless you're running from an svn checkout:

http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2964 - see the comments near the end of the thread on that issue.

I did discover a problem with the Country - State fields on that form - values I entered were NOT saved to the DB. I've filed this as a comment on the reopened "related" issue: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-3803 - hopefully this gets fixed prior to the 2.1.2 release

Thanks Dave - I'll get Chris to update and check it behaves as I hope.

I just upgraded to the newly release 2.1.2 and it seemed to fix the bug.  Don't forget to rebuild your menus after getting the new source by going to: http://path_to_civicrm/menu/rebuild?reset=1.
