500 Timeout errors
November 20, 2008, 09:05:23 am
I think the installation is taking too long for Joomla (1.5.7) - I'm getting 500 timeout errors.  I cannot change the limits for how long processes take (I'm on a shared server).  How can I install without it taking so long?  (ie, breaking into batches?)

Another look reveals that the problem before this step and not all of the files were unzipped (I think had a 500 error then as well).  I'm going back and FTPing them up individually after unzipping them on my local machine.  We'll see if that works.  Come to think of it, I think I had the same error the last time I installed civiCRM and solved it the same way.

Damm.  I can get around the 500 timeout error when uploading, but I still get a timeout error when using the Joomla installer.  How do I get around the installer?

OK, I learned how to change the php.ini files.  Changed the max execution time to 3000 and max input time to 600 and no effect.  Perhaps this isn't a timeout, but some kind of permissions?
