Outdated page at Paypal?
July 05, 2007, 09:21:38 am
Hi,

I am trying to set up paypal standard as a payment processer.
When I try a test drive, when the user goes to paypal (the sandbox) it gives this message

You have requested an outdated version of PayPal. This error often results from the use of bookmarks. To enter the PayPal website please click on the Welcome tab.
If you are already logged in, please click on the My Account tab to continue.

If I click on the welcome tab it loses all the transaction information.

Ideas?

paypal updated their sandbox code base sometime last week. We are waiting till next week till we venture back in sandbox land and see what fixes we need to make if any. We've experienced problems with the sandbox also (in testing 1.8) and would like to wait for a few more days giving Paypal time to fix the bugs and hoping the issues will disappear

In case that helps, it appears that the value of the cmd variable you need to send PayPal for normal payments has changed from "xclick" to "_xclick". Changing that in the PayPalImpl.php seems to fix the "outdated version of PayPal" error.

Do we need to make that change for the production version of paypal also?

U have to love paypal for making such changes and not providing backward compatibility :(

I'm not sure about the production version of PayPal, since I'm still only working with the Sandbox, sorry.

And yeah, I agree, I was pretty confused when all of a sudden the same exact thing I had working already sent me to that "outdated version" site. Took me a while to look up what was wrong.
Didn't see any "we have upgraded so now you need to use this instead of that" message on their part either, I had to find out myself... but maybe I was just too blind to see the announcement. ;)

AN update. Now it goes to the proper login page and keeps the transaction information in the url, but the account overview page is displayed.

Not sure if this means your problem is solved? or is it still an issue?

Still an issue.

After the user logs in to paypal, she should see a transaction with the contribution amount and the recipient already entered, and just be ready to proceed. Right? That isn't happening. Instead, she just gets the account home page with no transaction information.
