Events Custom Data is not an option

I am working through creating a new Event registration and have created a new Custom Data group with the required custom data fields.  When I created the group I choose "Event" in the "Used for" drop down. However, when I then go into Profile to create the fields, there is no option for "Event" to choose from. 
I have created other Custom Data types for Memberships, and those show up in Profile.  Just nothing I have specified as "Used for - Event".

Please forgive if have not used the correct terms, as I am still learning as I go through this project.
I am using CiviCRM 2.1.2 on Drupal 6.5.

I found my answer... or so it would seem...
Why isn't my custom data set that is designated for Events available to profiles?

CiviCRM only offers fields in profiles for types of records where CiviCRM COLLECTS information. CiviCMR doesn't collect information on the event (at least not currently) — only on a particular contact's 'participation' in the event. Custom fields for an event should automatically show up on the Event Info page if it exists. You can create custom data groups for participants who register for events, not the event itself.

I apologize for the posting before searching the FAQs.

FYI - in 2.2 we are planning to support "event-specific" Participant custom data fields.
