Debugging a sick SOAP proxy
November 26, 2008, 05:56:25 pm
We use CiviMail 1.9 with CiviSMTP, and in the last week or so, our proxy died.  Calls into our proxy now fail with HTTP code 500; there isn't anything else getting dumped into the error log for us to see what's bothering the call to the proxy.

How can we debug the proxy?

My best guess would be to create a SOAP client and emulate what Amavis does.  I've looked at the 1.9 version of the doctored amavisd perl script that's used with CiviMail (the one in SVN), which gives me some ideas.  Let me say, however:  comments are not evil :-)  It would help if the CiviCRM specific code were commented enough so I could figure out what the code is doing.

If I can call the proxy appropriately, I can get the code to run through the debugger, and see where we're dying.

This is an extremely important issue for our organisation. I hope someone can reply soon. It has been nearly a week since we have been able to send bulk email with CiviSMTP.

Dennis:

not sure if this is a CiviMail or a CiviSMTP issue. We'd be happy to help rob/shane debug this issue so DA can move forward. Rob can contact us via IRC/IM

Lobo,

It turned out to be a CiviMail issue. The issue that prompted Rob's post has been solved and in the meantime he also came up with some debugging techniques. He should be following up on this soon.

Folks, I am having the exact same problem.  I'd love to hear how you were able to debug/solve this issue.
