SMTP mail not working - have search all threads

Hi all,

loving CiviCRM - thankyou !!

I am wanting to use specifically CiviContribute 2.1.2 on Joomla 1.5.6 to collect donations...

I am having an issue with SMTP mail. I configured my SMTP mail no problems

1. When I test the settings no email is sent (assume this is sent to the admin of joomla)

2. When I do a test or live contribution - the transaction completes fine but I get an error as follows:

The mail library returned the following error message: Failed to set sender: @localhost [SMTP: recipient is not recognized (code: 501, response: <@localhost>: no local part)]


After looking through a lot of posts I checked if I could send email to a contact - I can do this.

All help appreciated :)

Scott - What email address do you have entered in the Thankyou and Receipting configuration for your contribution page? This is the "sender" of the receipt and it sounds like it's not a valid value (often this must be a valid email account with the ISP that provides the mail service for you).
