Newbie question - adding custom fields to a registration form (solved)
December 01, 2008, 07:23:23 am
I'm trying to put custom fields on an event registration form

I've created the event, and have added a profile called "Seminar Registrant". This has all the standard contact fields attached, and displays those fine.

In addition to those standard fields, I want to add a group of custom fields. I've created those in a group called "registrant choices".

For the life of me, I can't seem to figure out how to add those to my sign-up form. The form needs to display both the standard fields, and the custom ones.

The documentation says you can add these custom fields to a profile,
Quote
Select the type of contact the field belongs to (e.g. Individual, Organization, Household) - and then select the field. Note that you can also assign the special "fields" of Groups and/or Tags - and these will be displayed as a set of checkboxes in the Profile forms

but neglects to mention HOW to add them. This seems like such a minor thing. Can someone please tell me how this works?

Thanks...and sorry if it's a dumb question.

Is this Custom Data of type Participant ? Once you have created custom data (Participant), you can add it to Profile and include that profile for "Event Registration"

That may just be it. I have it as type "workshop" which my event is set to. Is it possible to change the type, or do I have to re-make the data group?

I just re-created the data group to be associated with "participants". That worked. Thank you!!

Nope you cannot change the type, you will have to recreate.
