civimember custom fields
December 02, 2008, 08:31:59 am
Is there any support for custom civimember fields? I'd need to get people to submit a photo of themselves aswell as some other info.

This is the only thing stopping me from using civiCRM at present.

TIA

Yes you can create custom data of type "File" and use it for photos..

Thanks, thats great, and my next question. Our membership system involves an annual renewal every May for £30, but it has a varying fee for when people join at different times of year, so if you join in Dec its a £16 fee and an annual renewal in May the following year for £30. Would itbe possible to configure this?

From reading about it it seems like I could have a registration form that'd mix contributions and membership signups, and treat the monthly fee as a contribution and the annual May renewal as a membership signup

Does this make sense? Is it possible?

Thanks again

If you thinking full pledge discount feature, its not available for Memberships.

Yes, this can be workaround where you can setup Contribution Fee's for different times of year and then manually enable/disable Fee amount based on time of year.

In 2.2, you can potentially do this using the buildAmount hook and add your specific rules. Note that this will require both php knowledge and some familiarity with drupal's hook system

When you say "manually enable" what are we talking here? I was thinking that there'd be a membership signup in May and that we'd require a contribution AND membership signup at any other time of year. Is it possible to require a contribution in order to signup?

I'm  installing civiCRM on a test site today so should e able to poke around and answer some questions myself, sorry if I'm not making uch sense until then.

Best

Mike

That is fine also :) You can use joomla's plugin architecture for that. mcsmom is experimenting with that right now. You can play the role of lead experimenter :)
