Test credit card # for dummy payment processor?
December 02, 2008, 12:45:59 pm
I'm testing out a CiviContribute membership form in CiviCRM 2.0.7 and I'm using the Dummy Payment processor.  What is a test credit card # I can use?  Is there one?  Expiration date and code?

The dummy payment processor was more for development purposes (and was contributed)

For testing out a membership form etc, we do recommend you use the test drive aspect of your final processor

To answer your question more specifcally, you can use any valid credit card / exp date / code. i dont think the code makes any checks

Well it does actually.  You can use a valid credit card but it only shows the first "review" registration page and then you get an error saying that you can't use live credit cards with the dummy payment processor.

It's cool.  We'll be testing this with our Authorize.net account eventually.

when the dummy processor was written, it was written for test mode only and coded so folks could not use it on a live page. I suspect you are hitting that error.

note that we have not tested the dummy processor in the recent few releases :) we probably should get rid of that entry to avoid confusing people

Yes, I agree or at least make it work so you can enter a test credit card #.

There needs to be a method of testing the entire transaction using a dummy payment processor without having to sign up for a PayPal or Authorize.net (etc.) accounts.
