Hey everyone. I'm testing some things and I set up a free membership type to test the membership registration process. I noticed that when an anonymous user who isn't yet in the database signs up for that free membership, they get an activity recorded as "membership renewal." Even though they are a brand new record with no previous membership. Shouldn't they get a membership signup activity recorded? Is this expected or a bug? Does it possibly have to do with the status rules?

I am testing on 2.1.2 and recreated this on the demo site. I have not yet tried this for paid memberships so don't know for sure if this is only for free ones.

Any ideas?

Tony - this sounds like a bug (the wrong activity type is being assigned - since we should be able to differentiate a new signup from a renewal). Pls file an bug report in the issue tracker w/ steps to recreate. thx!
