Post Move - Dates not working properly
December 04, 2008, 07:07:21 am
I've just recently moved a site from a subfolder to the root of this web folder. In the process, I've had to do the usual (new to me) of renaming things i resource URLs, CiviCRM Settings file etc...

Now, I've got all the other elements working, I am looking at date specific info I've imported and the years are all wrong.

The dates should be showing as Feb 29, 2008 etc... I am sure the data is right cause in the contact view screen, it's right, but in the editor, it's not set. Odd.

Please advise.
Most appreciated.

Adam

Not sure about your problem, can you make you had followed all the instructions mentioned here: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location

I have followed these. The problem still remains.

In my data import, I had to choose a date type to map in to.

I mapped using the date format as per my above listing.

Still not working.

I do appreciate any help in this direction.

Cheers,

Adam

Check the settings for Date Formats (Admin CiviCRM >> Global Settings >> Date Formats) on your site and compare to the expected defaults here:

http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/setting/date?reset=1

.... if that doesn't clear things up, might help to post screen shots showing the discrepancy you're describing because I'm not sure we're clear on the issue your seeing.

OK - I have gone in and re-checked the date formats. They're identical, but the issue is still here.

http://shorelineconsulting.ca/temp/civiscreen2.jpg

shows the view screen.

Same record.

I click edit.

The years aren't set.

As a matter of fact, the only selectable date is 2008 in ANY of them.

Could this be a lead?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Adam

Looks like these date fields are custom fields (which is helpful info to provide :-) ). Go to Administer Civi >> Custom Data >> (Your group of custom fields) >> Edit Field  ... for one of these data fields. Then check the value for

"Dates may be up to [   ] years prior to current date."
and
"Dates may be up to [   ] years after to current date."

Thank you SOOO much once again. I continue to love this product and the community.

My question :
This wasn't changed at any time in the move. Is this something that would have gone un-noticed by us (defaults in edit state)?

Something I should bear in mind the next time I set it up.

Thanks again so much. What a super sweet product and awesome community.

Cheers!

Seems likely. If the problem had appeared after a version upgrade, I would be suspicious that something wasn't handled properly in the upgrade code - but I don't see that a site move is likely to affect those values (they aren't part of the global site configuration stuff).
