Custom data for cases?

It appears that there is no way to add custom data to a Case (CiviCRM 2.1.2). Is this the, er, case?

Yes that's "the case".

If you are looking at Case functionality in CiviCRM, I'd encourage you to check out the MAJOR changes coming with the implementation of a pretty full-featured case management component (CiviCase) in 2.2. We are close to an alpha release and most of the phase 1 features are in place. We'd love to have other folks involved in reviewing and testing fit for their use cases.

Summary of functionality:

You can try stuff out a bit on our "trunk sandbox" - or if you're interested in engaging a bit more with this project I can get you up to speed on the configuration process and you can install a copy from SVN.
