Paypal Standard

Hi,

Could someone please clarify whether paypal WP standard works with CiviCRM for both one off and recurring payments? I am a little confused by the wiki entry.

Thanks,
Paul.

1. yes, CiviCRM has suport for both one off and recurring payments with PayPal Standard

2. can you please give us the URL of the wiki page that was confusing, and potentially give language to make it more clear for future users :)

Hi,

Thats great - fixes a big problem I had with PCI DSS. I found the info via google:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/PayPal+Website+Payments+Standard+and+Recurring+Contributions

that page has this at the top:

he configuration is not easy
- no consisten log to tell what the system is doing, neither on the side of civicrm nor on the side of paypal
- documentation not easily found
- Setting seem to cached, which leads to seemingly erratic behaviour.

which made me think it was a work in progress option. Thanks very much for your help.

Thanks,
Paul.

No probs, thats the thing about wiki's!

Out of interest, for the recurring payments, I assume civicrm keeps the card details on file or does it just setup a recurring payment via paypal themselves? If that is the case, does civicrm deal with the cancellation/failures etc?

Thanks,
Paul.

CiviCRM does not keep the card details in the db. PayPal does all the hard work and makes periodic callbacks to CiviCRM when a payment goes through and if the subscription is cancelled etc
