Cant get Civicrm running as standalone or under Drupal at MediaTemple
December 12, 2008, 02:55:54 pm
I have tried to install CiviCRM as a standalone and under Drupal on a (dv) at MediaTemple.
Installation is straight forward and I clear the install screens. Drupal installs fine and I can log into its admin. When I try to log into civi. with my myopenid I just get a blank page with the URL hung at try_auth.php.  I tried granting write priv. to all directories involved but both scenarios still respond the same :-\

Any assistance appreciated. :)

Are you trying to use CiviCRM in Drupal or Standalone ?  If you are using CiviCRM with drupal, then you don't have to login separately. Once you logged in Drupal, you are also logged in to CiviCRM.

Do check: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/2.+Install

Thanks for you reply, I am really after standalone. When at the login i put in my openID and submit then it just gives me a blank page. No error or 'spinning' etc. What should I look at?

Thanks.

Can you check your apache logs for error. Also try increasing your memory_limit and execution time for PHP

Here is the line after a successful fetch of the openid.

PHP Fatal error:  Define Auth_OpenID_RAND_SOURCE as null to  continue with an insecure random number generator. in /var/www/vhosts/opencrm.XXXXX.com/httpdocs/sa/civicrm/packages/Auth/OpenID/CryptUtil.php on line 52, referer: http://opencrm.XXXXX.com/sa/civicrm/standalone/

Ideas?

Thanks,

I did see that post but the line
"(it may not be as secure but for a local install it should be fine):"
concerns me as I am going to run this as production. Can you explain why its not operating correctly in the first place, and is there a config setting that would make it operate normally?

No idea. Its an external PEAR package we are using (Auth/OpenID.php) and dont really know the details. You might want to query on their forums/mailing list for more details and/or ask the author of that comment for more details

this will need to be a community contributed and supported piece of code. The core team has no plans for a wordpress version
