Drupal 6.8/CivicCRM 2.1.4 on XAMPP
December 21, 2008, 05:02:28 pm
I have been trying to install CivicCRM with Drupal on a test platform using XAMPP.  I have worked through all of the errors but one which says "Unable to create temporary tables. This MySQL user is missing the CREATE TEMPORARY TABLES privilege."  The user ("root") in question is the same as the user for the drupal MySQL database, and I have made sure that "root" has universal privileges for CivicCRM and the drupal database.  I have even refreshed the privileges a couple of times to make sure that the changes I made were in the MySQL data.  What am I missing?  This has to be something incredibly simple, but I'm totally flummoxed at this point.

Sorry, there was a bug we introduced when we added the temporary table check (in 2.1.2 i think). We need the CiviCRM DB to be created before the install process. I'll edit the documentation to reflect this

Does that mean that I'm good to go--that the installation has been successful?  Or is there something else I need to do before I can begin configuring CivicCRM?

please create the civicrm db before you start the install process and hopefully the error will disapper

let me know if that works. if so, i'll backport the fix to 2.1.5

I did create civiccrm before the installation.  Now, when I look at the Drupal modules, the 4 CivicCRM modules are there.  The civiccrm database shows no tables having been created.

If you ran the install script after creating that DB - and there are still no tables in that DB - then something went wrong?? You could try running the install script again (maybe drop and create the DB again before running it). If still no joy, then you could try going through the manual installation procedures here (they're officially for 2.0, not 2.1 but I think the steps are the same):
