JInstaller::install: Failed to copy file:
December 24, 2008, 10:01:19 am
Hi folks,

I tried to install civicrm on joomla on linux . I am getting the following error

It was not possible to copy the selected file.
JInstaller::install: Failed to copy file: /var/www/vhosts/lcs.mycharterschool.org/httpdocs/joomla/administrator/components/com_installer/com_civicrm/civicrm.php to /var/www/vhosts/lcs.mycharterschool.org/httpdocs/joomla/components/com_civicrm/civicrm.php

Can anyone help me with this please?

Likely a permissioning issue.

ok, permissions issue, meaning civicrm is not using the available ftp setting to do it right, so....

is there any manual installation documentation, or a list of what dir's to make writable?

yea, i see the jFTP but install is not working.

when i tried setting components dir and admincomponets dir to 777 it says cannot create directory.
when i create the com_civicrm directories and even set those to 777, its says cannot move files.

please advise.

More like a Joomla permissioning problem. Joomla isn't able to create the directories for CiviCRM. Have you been able to successfully install any other Joomla extensions?
