Is MySQLi supported, and if so then when/how to configure that driver?
January 05, 2009, 05:27:47 pm
Greetings-

We currently run several installations of Drupal 5.x and Gallery 2.x both with the MySQLi driver.

I did some searching and came to no "warm fuzzies" as to flipping CiviCRM over to the MySQLi driver / at which point during the installation / and where exactly to edit.

I saw two mysql:// URL's in /sites/default/civicrm.settings.php for example.

TIA!
Michael

you can change both settings to mysqli:// and CiviCRM will then use the mysqli driver

Are there any advantages to using mysqli with CiviCRM?  (e.g. speed)

and are there any disadvantages?

I don’t think we did any testing of MySQLi vs. MySQL. A quick googling turns up this blog post, but neither of the four benefits mentioned there applies to CiviCRM.
If you found the above helpful, please consider helping us in return – you can even steer CiviCRM’s future and help us extend CiviCRM in ways useful to you.

ok - seems to make not much difference either way - thanks anyway.
