best practice for "free" or "flexible" premiums
July 11, 2007, 05:56:06 am
Hi, can you provide some ideas of the best way to accomodate the following scenario:

-client has premiums (ie cups, vests)

-premiums are not always tied to a specific contribution value. Sometimes they are given away for free, or exchanged if a donor wants something different

-client needs a way to track what was sent, and when

Thanks!

You can set the "Minimum Contribution Amount" to 0.00 for free/flexible premiums (under Manage Premiums).

If a contribution premiums is swapped - that can be noted by having a staff person edit the contribution record. Also, they can enter the date a premium was fulfilled when editing the contribution record.

One missing piece is that there is no built-in search on Contributions by Premium fulfilled date - so you may need to write a custom SQL query to grab that info (and possibly use it to build a report in CiviReport once 1.8 is out :-) ).
