{domain.address} in Canada
January 08, 2009, 12:42:28 pm
Hello,

I'm just getting up and running with CiviCRM and trying to set up our HTML newsletter template in CiviMail. I'm running into 2 problems with the required token {domain.address}:

  • It won't pull the Province data I entered under Domain Information. The resulting string is "606 Shaw St., Toronto M6G 3L6" but there should be an "ON" after Toronto to represent our province.
  • It outputs the address only on one line, but I would prefer to put a line break before the city. Is there any way to insert this?

Thanks,
Aylwin

can u check the setting here for the address format:

http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/setting/preferences/address?reset=1

We use the display format to show the address in the mailing

Hi,

Here's a screencap of that page.

Just to close the loop: we upgraded to 2.1.4 and now the Province data appears correctly.

It would still be nice to be able to format the address information a bit more, but we'll leave it as is for now.

Hi Aylwin - Thx for raising this issue up again. I did my own test with 2.2 alpha and saw what I think is the remaining "formatting" problem you're referencing - which is that the Address Display Format is not respected in the HTML version of mailings since we're not putting <br /> line breaks between the lines.

I've filed an issue for this which I think will be fixed before 2.2 stable:
http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-4051

Can you confirm that the ongoing problem with layout is seen in your HTML formatted messages.

This is fixed in 2.2 svn now and will be part of next release. If you want to try and backport to 2.1, the diff is here (it's a one line change in 2.2):

Hi Dave,

Thanks for looking into this! I don't have access to edit any of the files that are part of our install, but I'll see if our developer will be able to do the backport.

I'm not sure that I understood the confirmation you requested, but I've only been experimenting thus far with HTML-formatted CiviMails. Hope that's helpful!
