Joomla upgrade instructions missing step - uninstall CiviCRM

In the instructions for upgrading from 2.1 to 2.2 on the Joomla platform, an additional step should be added. Before installing 2.2, 2.1 should be uninstalled.

You don't need to uninstall v2.1, follow this instructions: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Upgrade+Joomla+Sites+to+2.2

Kurund,

The procedure you referenced is the one I was using. I got an error something like "Directories already in use" when I followed it.

If you look at the instructions for upgrading to 2.0, there is a step for uninstalling CiviCRM. There is no such step in the instructions for upgrading to 2.1, as it is not necessary: CiviCRM is uninstalled during the step where Joomla! is upgraded from 1.0.x to 1.5.x.

I suspect that when the 2.2 upgrade procedure was written, it was copied from the 2.1 procedure, and the "uninstall CiviCRM" step was not re-inserted.
