Import Error: Required fields not found for contribution contribution_type_id
January 15, 2009, 08:42:17 pm
Hello,
Im trying to import records from legacy systems. I have contacts entered and trying to use link from Reports --> Fundraising --> "You can also import batches of offline contributions from other sources."

I keep getting this error: Required fields not found for contribution contribution_type_id

Where do I set up or find the required field values? Im mapping a field in my import to type ID but it obviously isnt what civi is looking for.

Can someone point me in the right direction? This is my first Civi experience  :P

thanks

Each records in your CSV file should be associated with Contribution Type defined in CiviCRM. So each records should have one of these options: http://sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/contribute/contributionType?reset=1 and then you select it as contribution type, while importing.

The link doesnt work (access denied: unauthorized)... but I think I understand. I have to add a contribution type value to the import?

Is there a way to add fields for values from my old system for the contributions? I have tried using Custom and creating a group but these only add as options to the individual. I would like the data to be tied to the financial record.

thanks for your help,

John

You need to login to Drupal first to access the sandbox ...
user = demo
pw = demo

When you create your Group of Custom Fields - you set a "Used For" value - in your case to Contributions. Then the custom fields you put in that group will extend the contribution records in CiviCRM (and can be imported, edited, viewed etc.).

I'd recommend reading thru this section of the online docs:
