civicrm standalone login crashes
January 20, 2009, 08:25:42 am
I had civicrm standalon up and running with access for myself as administrator

For unknown reason it suddenly reports
/srv/www/freeatheart/civi/CRM/Core/Error.php, backtrace, 260
/srv/www/freeatheart/civi/CRM/Utils/System/Standalone.php, fatal, 268
/srv/www/freeatheart/civi/CRM/Utils/System.php(192) : eval()'d code, permissionDenied, 1
/srv/www/freeatheart/civi/CRM/Utils/System.php, eval, 192
/srv/www/freeatheart/civi/CRM/Core/Invoke.php, permissionDenied, 119
/srv/www/freeatheart/civi/standalone/index.php, invoke, 37
/srv/www/freeatheart/civi/standalone/index.php, invoke, 62

Entschuldigung. Ein nicht behebbarer Fehler ist aufgetreten. (a non recoverable error has occured)

Sie haben nicht die notwendigen Berechtigungen, um diese Seite aufzurufen. (you have not the permission to call this page).

I cleared all cookies and session files. I can then login using myopenid. After successful login it crashes again as above.

What has gone wrong?

After some searching in the database I have cleared all data in acl_cache. After that it worked again. I notice the modified date is null (no expiry of cache possible?).
I found also that group_contact_cache had some wrong data (possibly from previous testing) which I could not remove within the civicrm application. I had to delete it directly in the database.

Where do I need to correct such lockups? How are those cache tables renewed? group_contact_cache has also no expiry date field, so what does clear those table entries?

Clarification is welcome

I see this error intermittently as well. I'm still trying to track down the cause of it. I've created this issue to track our progress: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-3750

Can you post a comment to that issue describing the behavior you're seeing?

These intermittent errors are really hard to diagnose since just when you think you've got a handle on it, they stop happening.  ::)

As I said in my first post: Clearing the ACL-cache did clear the error.

My questions are:
- Who clears the cache?
- Is there a time based removal of cache entries?

I assume that there is some entry in the cache that does not correspond to the state of the program, that causes the problem. However this should be cleared at least with the next login!

I need a solution for this intermittent error.

Help is appreciated

1. the acl cache is cleared whenever the acl settings are changed

2. there is no time based removal of cache entries. For the short term, you can add a cron job to truncate those tables periodically

3. as wes said, we are aware of an intermittent bug. not being able to reproduce it is a big hurdle to resolve the issue
