Radio Custom field - Remove Value?
January 25, 2009, 08:01:09 am
So I'm using a custom field which I've set to be a Radio with two values "Coach" or "Mentor".

Now I create a user.  If they are neither a coach nor a mentor then I just don't select anything.

If they are a Coach or Mentor obviously I do.

However, what if someone is a Coach or Mentor NOW, but later on they are not?  I want to remove the value so the field is again "null".  There doesn't seem to be any way to do this?  Once I select an option and Save the contact, that contact appears to be forever and ever one of those two options.

Any thoughts on this?

Ultimately I want to keep information about current year coaches and mentors in custom fields for easy exporting, but when this year (season) is over I want to record their coaching record elsewhere and then clear these fields for future seasons.

Thanks,

Peter

Custom radio button fields all provide an "unselect" option next to the field values in 2.2.

http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-3290

You can try it out by setting up a custom radio button field on the sandbox:

If you're doing a "mass update" to move all coach flags into a different field, you might want to do that with a SQL script.
