Unable to "Go Back" and modify any fields when submiting forms
January 27, 2009, 08:53:09 pm
Hi There,

I've got a form submission issue that appears the be permissions related.  It was first reported to me as a CiviEvent event registration form error, but it appears to be a civicrm-wide problem.  When anonymous users submit a form they are taken to a confirmation screen with a "continue" and a "go back" button. The "go back" button allows them to modify their entries in the form, but upon submitting, the changes are this time not reflected on the confirmation screen.  This didn't happen before.  Not only does this not allow users to correct any errors in their form, but it also prevents say a couple from registering for an event on the same computer with different information in the form.

In troubleshooting
1) As an anonymous user, I can delete the cookie and enter new registrant info without a problem, but still can't change form info after submitting the first time.
2)As the admin user, I can submit and correct the forms with no problems at all - which is what makes me think its a permissions issue.
3)I inherited this site with the anonymous user having the drupal "access civicrm" permission enabled -- I did not think this was necesary, but Even still, sometimes users are getting a "Non recoverable error: Could not find valid Key."  This seems to be cookie related as well.

I'm totally steeped in this issue as this is on a production site.  I'm told that I could use Firebug on the form (http://www.regenerativedesign.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=48) but I dont know how to do that. Any help on this will be GREATLY appreciated!

Worth Noting:
I've just updated my drupal5.x site from CiviCRM 1.4 to 1.9 (Separately, I was unable to upgrade to 2.0 because of failures in the database schema - though this could be related to my issue).  I followed documentation pretty carefully through the process and ran all intermediate database update scripts.

Cheers,
Andrew

I think we have fixed few things in v2.1 or v2.2, Can you try to replicate this on http://sandbox.civicrm.org

Um... thanks, but when I went to this sandbox I didnt have the necesary permissions to even attempt to recreate my issue.  Can you allow me access to administer civievent and civicontribute? Or perhaps I missed a step?

I haven't been able to update to 2.0 because when I went through the instructions from 1.9 to 20 my database update script fails on step 5.. Any suggestions there?

Lasly, are you saying that this is a known issue with 1.9?  Is there any way to get it working with that version?  Of course updating to 2.0 would normally preferable, but I can't run anything past 2.0 with drupal 5.x.  In short - I dont want to have to update to drupal 6.x just to fix this little issue if I dont have to.

Don't know if this would help but we built a database upgrade tool that may help with your upgrade problem in going from 1.9 to 2.0.  More info here http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Database+Troubleshooting+Tools

Hope this helps
