Stuck on installation
January 29, 2009, 10:32:03 am
I have installed Drupal and downloaded CiviCRM and went to enable the module. I got these errors:

    * warning: include_once(sites/default/civicrm.settings.php) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\wamp\www\drupal\sites\all\modules\civicrm\drupal\civicrm.module on line 230.

Thing is the files are there and I discovered the settings.php was read only so I enabled it and repeated the module enable. The above is from the 2nd attempt. The first attempt gave a green light between the last two but can't remember what that was. Totally new to Drupal and CiviCRM. Looked at the instructions and have followed them as rigorously as possible. There is an uninstall button but a bit wary of using it. The file "C:\wamp\www\drupal\sites\all\modules\civicrm\drupal\civicrm.module IS in that folder.

Advice appreciated.

If you feel adventurous, you might want to try our new experimental joomla install package

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/civicrm/civicrm-2.2.experimental-joomla.zip?use_mirror=

note that this is 2.2 and a test version. we hope to use it for the next release of 2.2 and hopefully will fix a lot of install issues :)

Thanks Donald, but I have a Joomla! install (civicrm-2.2.alpha3-joomla.zip) and am trying Drupal because with Joomla there is no front end working for case workers (the Admin screen is used)using civiCase). Is the Joomla one you refer to (downloads.sourceforge.net/civicrm/civicrm-2.2.experimental-joomla.zip?use_mirror=) WITH CiviCase and something different from the standard Joomla download i.e. a front end version?

Are you thinking my problem is not resolveable? I was guessing it may be a URL problem say in some config file. Does anyone know?

In your case, we dont have any windows expertise inhouse and hence cannot be helpful. Hopefully someone in the community will be able to help you out

I can't really see what it has to do with Windows as I said, I have WAMP installed and am not using IIS. But what is that experimental version exactly and can I easily move forward with it to production when the time is ripe?

PS I have wiped my Drupal installation as I do not have the experience to get it passed the reported errors. So will be going for the Joomla! one for now and  perhaps later the standalone (on Ubuntu) later if things pan out.

the W in WAMP is windows. The experimental version is just an experiment for folks to try and give us feedback on. It cannot and should not be used in production, and there is no migration path for it now. We will release it with the next 2.2 release

Hi there,

These are the relevant lines from my windows xampp install. Obviously you need to change the path slightly for Wamp (note in my case the root of the website install is C:\xampp\htdocs\classes so that is the bit you should replace)

In this file:
C:\xampp\htdocs\classes\sites\default\civicrm.settings.php

define( 'CIVICRM_MYSQL_PATH', 'C:/xampp/mysql/bin' );
$civicrm_root = 'c:/xampp/htdocs/classes/sites/all/modules/civicrm/';
define( 'CIVICRM_TEMPLATE_COMPILEDIR', 'c:/xampp/htdocs/classes/files/civicrm/templates_c/' );

From memory in windows install you can use unix style /'s or windows style slashes with an extra slash i.e. \\

so the path 'C:\\xampp\\mysql\\bin' would also work - as long as it points to your mysql.exe directory

Make today the day you step up to support CiviCRM and all the amazing organisations that are using it to improve our world - http://civicrm.org/contribute
