Seeking exchange of ideas
January 31, 2009, 08:28:51 am
I volunteer for a branch of a UK charity. We need to install some sort of system to record case histories and general charity office procedures e.g. volunteer, donators. I am trying to cope with learning about CRM as well as install a trial system to see how things work. Willing to join any discussion on this subject and exchange ideas or even (eventually) code, etc.

Feedback welcome.

Hi there,

Happy to have a chat with you about your needs on the phone or in person if you like (contact me using details in my profile).  Alternatively carry on asking questions in the relevant forum.

Thanks for the offer. It's fair first for me to get the ball rolling and I have now a Drupal system working on my laptop (no emails yet). One aspect I am thinking of is the issue of whether to host the final system external or on our office server (Ubuntu server 8.10). The advantage for external is I suppose the email facility automatically associated, out-of-office working but a domain name would need to be purchased. Has anyone some thoughts?

Probably better to ask this question in installing http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/board,2.0.html or using http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/board,9.0.html CiviCRM.  Can't really answer without knowing more details on how you want to use Civi and what your budget is.
