Hi,

On all the other activities, you can add a contact (for "Assigned To" & "With contact"). I'd be great to have the same for the send email. Complicated to add ?

I think we are talking about the same thing, but to clarify:
- right now, the send email is almost the same as the other activities, but isn't (still haven't found where the hack is). Beside the coherency issue, you end up with features you'd like to have on the normal activities (send by email) but is only in the send email, and others that are on activities (add contacts), that aren't available on the send mail.

By adding the two options I've discussed:
1) being able to add a custom template per type of activity
2) being able to send by email any type of activity

We could get rid of the custom hacky thing of the send email.

It should be pointed out that the proposed send email on activity is different than the existing one: right now, if you send an email to n contacts, each will receive a unique email, different than what the other receive, the activity email would send an email to all of them.

In a nutshell, I suggest that the send email behave like the send email from a mail client (if you To: the recipients, they all see it, if you Bcc: them, they all don't see it...). If you want the actual send email behaviour, use CiviMail.

I think it will be much more coherent, and make a much clearer distinction between send mail and civimail (one of my pet complains).

Please complain about these ideas, civicrew, consultants & users, what do you think ?

That would make it a lot clearer - i can feel a request for a code contribution coming though

yeah, can be added to the wiki and if folks want it in 2.3, then a code contribution will ensure it will happen
