Default sort order on CiviMail summary page
February 04, 2009, 09:31:02 am
On my 2.2 alpha3 test site, it seems like the default sort order on the CiviMail summary page is by "created by." My thinking and suggestion is that it should be sorted by completed date in descending order (most recently completed at the top).  This is the way it's always been in fact.  Because most often, you'll want to see the report of the most recent mailing you sent out so it makes sense if it was at the top of the list

In fact, not sure why "created by" and "sent by" even need to be on the summary page. They can probably just live in the mailing report.

Just some suggestions.  Thanks and 2.2 is looking good.

Done: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-4085

Should I also file an feature request to eliminate the created by and sent by columns from the summary page? My thinking is that it saves some valuable real estate on the summary page and can just live in the report.  But that's just my two cents.

thanks

I think we should leave these in for now - especially since we allow folks to search for mailings based on these criteria (hence it would be potentially confusing to not show them). I suspect they are useful in the listings for orgs where multiple people do mailings.

I did shorten the column headers for the 3 date columns - which helps reduce the overall width of the table a bit. (e.g. "Scheduled" instead of "Scheduled Date" - it's obvious that it's a date :-) )

That's cool.  I can see it being useful for some larger organizations. I was just trying to save real estate as much as possible.
