Can't delete com
February 04, 2009, 09:56:41 am
Hi there,

I just tried installing CiviCRM into Joomla, got a permissions error, and corrected it. When I try to do the reinstall, It tells me
"Component Install: Another Component is already using directory: "/home/alliance/public_html/components/com_civicrm"

So I go to delete the com_civicrm folder, but my FTP program tells me I do not have permission to delete this folder or any of the files inside of it.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Permissioning problem on the file system.
If you have a file manager in your hosting control  panel, try deleting them there.

Thank you for the reply. I logged into my cpanel to delete the folders from there, but they reappear as soon as I delete them from the file manager.

Sounds as though you do not own the files; probably the webserver does. You may need to ask your host to change ownership to you.
