When a member renews, the "join date" is getting reset, why? Can we stop it?
February 06, 2009, 12:22:48 pm
There are three dates for a membership.

Join date
Start date
End date

Let's say the membership expired last week and they are currently in status Grace.  When a member renews their membership, both their Start date and their Join date are reset to today's date and status is set to New.   We like to keep record of the Join date being the date they first became a member, whether it be 1989 or 2004 or whatever.  And we'd like to have renewal status set to Current, not New.

How can we stop Join date from auto-updating?

Thanks.

Can you clarify what  Membership Rules you are applying?

You might want to try

Current   = Start = join date

That is how one of our implementations is set up and is not having your problems. But may be a side issue.

I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean by this equation.  We don't want the join date to be equal to the start date at all, that is our problem.

Can you please be more clear?

This seems to be fixed. I am not experiencing any problem on 4.0.7 and drupal 7. Join date is not changed and hence the status is set to Current (and not New).
