Change "Constituent Information" layout

I have to add new fields to "Constituent Information" but they are stacking vertically one above the other and this makes form/page very long.
How can I place them three in a row, they are short label and field (10 chars max).
Please advice.

You'll need to customize the template used for editing and displaying custom data. Not sure if the "custom template path" feature is available in 1.8 - but you can read about it here:

You should consider upgrading your site as well, since 1.8 is quite old and no longer supported.

Thank you Dave for advice.
I hope we can use the newest version of CiviCRM Satndalone but our website host is not going to update
MySQL to version 5 and we have a contract so we are stack for now. I tried Standalone 2.1 month ago but it did not worked properly.
