Will prcomail or sendmail work with civimail?

We have a Joomla installation and are trying to now hook up civimail.

Thanks to the developers, esp. Lobo, for all of the help, by the way, with the installation of the core of civicrm.

Our hosting platform offers procmail and sendmail. Can we integrate that at all with civi? If so, what are the steps in configging?

We don’t have much experience in running CiviMail in Joomla; there are no obstacles we’re aware of, and some quick googling seems to suggest that people succeeded in this regard.

We also support only Postfix+AMaViS-based CiviMail installs (and you do need root access to the host to modify both for CiviMail use); there are solutions for the return channel to work without Postfix/AMaViS (notably, the imap2soap script), but are community-supported.

Finally, you might be interested in ‘outsourcing’ your CiviMail; Urban Alliance for Sustainability is offering a free beta of their services as we speak.
