joomla install does not install sample data
February 09, 2009, 07:56:31 pm
Hey Folks,

I was able to install civicrm as a component in joomla on my local machine.  I'm using the latest version of both packages.  I would like to learn more about the actual setup for civicrm and I was hoping to take a peek at the sample data.  It did not install in joomla and I tried importing the sql file but I could not get it to work.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,

But is there the option to import sample data as part of the Joomla installation process? :-)

Currently No. You have to manually load sample data.

assuming you dont have any data in your civicrm db, do the foll:

1. Load sql/civicrm.mysql
2. Load sql/civicrm_generated.mysql
3. Logout and log back in

the sql directory is under administrator/components/com_civicrm

i usually load sample data by importing:
civicrm_sample.mysql and
civicrm_sample_custom_data.mysql

i'm not sure the difference between those and the _generated files.
you can import them through phpmyadmin or the command line
