Hi again.

I've read through a few similar issues where the contribution status gets stuck on 'pending' and this seems to usually be attributed to PayPal IPN malfunction.

This may well be the case here but my install is playing up in a unique way deserving of a separate thread.

What's happening when people register for paid events is that sometimes the contributions come through as 'completed' status. Sometimes they stay as 'pending' which prevents them from being accepted in CiviEvent as registered. I then check the PayPal ledger to see if the payment actually made it and there they are -> paid in full.

I ran through it myself twice on the live version and it came through as 'completed' and thus i was registered. I was suspect that they were perhaps not clicking on the 'return to merchant' button at the end of the payment process so the second time through I aborted my session immediately after the payment went through (now PayPal has a redirect feature instead of the 'Return to Merchant' -> they must have added that recently). Still the payment showed in CiviContribute as 'completed' despite that I had closed my browser before it returned me back to my site.

That's what I want to happen obviously but now I'm curious as to why this didn't work for several others who tried to register whose payments are stuck as 'pending' and leaving them unregistered and without the all important confirmation email that contains dates and times for the event schedule for their records.

Please note that this is an all together different issue from my previous thread where the cron fix is working fine at the moment. We just need to get these event fee contributions from 'pending' to 'completed' status. I couldn't find a way to override this manually. That's a feature request also. I should be able to manually change the contribution status myself.

Ekendra:

1. You should be able to change the contrib status in v1.8

2. I would check the CiviCRM.log file in: files/civicrm/upload and see what error message it returns for a pending transactions vs a completed transaction. that might help us

ok. i've upgraded to 1.8 and see no way of manually changing the status from 'pending'

am i missing something?

If you edit the contribution associated with the event, u can change the status of the contribution. You should be able to find the contribution using the "Find Contributions" feature

Note that changing the status does not trigger the mail or any other action

hi there. when i go to edit the contribution i can see no option that allows me to change the status. nor is the status ever mentioned. i've attached the screenshot. perhaps you could clarify?

(now using CiviCRM 1.8.alpha.10427)

I suspect you have not deleted your template cache from 1.7

check: http://sandbox.civicrm.org/drupal/civicrm/contact/view/contribution?reset=1&action=update&id=3&cid=6&context=contribution&subType=1

and u'll see contribution status. I suspect this is the same reason for the wierd "Administer CiviCRM" issue u reported

correct. i deleted the templates and everything works properly now.

no worries. i'll look through them and see what i can help with.

as far as i'm concerned this is one open-source software that is worthwhile contributing towards. i'm very impressed with the help i've been given trying to get things up and running.
