Newsletter subscription behavior
February 10, 2009, 02:44:12 pm
Unless I'm mistaken, the Subscribe to Profiles behavior is different in 2.2 - subscribers are now sent a confirmation e-mail to which they need to respond. A good feature, but for me, yet another barrier to entry at the outset and I would opt not to use it.

1. Ideally, I would like to disable this, or just send a confirmation e-mail at most. If there's a control for this, I can't find it!

2. But... if I need to live with this behavior, there should absolutely be an option for a confirmation landing page other than the CiviCRM confirmation page, which has CiviCRM links leading to inaccessible pages. A most unfriendly first user experience, dontcha think?

I've really searched for an answer here - any guidance would be most appreciated - thanks much for your help and for some great work - Civi is really taking leaps and bounds!

If you disable CiviMail, double-opt in process won't happen. So contacts will be directly added to the group.

But if you are need CiviMail,

For this you will have to manually hack the code for not sending email and adding contact directly to the group.

This is fixed in trunk and will be part of next CiviCRM v2.2 beta.
