Problem with custom fields/applications
February 10, 2009, 08:47:06 pm
O.K., I posted before on using civicrm for online race registration (www.athleteinyou.com) and having a problem with those that register for an event not showing up as "registered" and staying in a "pending" status eventhough they have paid for an event.
I tried to go in and manually update a registrant as "registered" and was not able.  Civicrm showed an error where all sorts of extra fields needed to be filled in before the process could be finalized (name, address, email, etc, etc).
Here is my problem:  We have a handful of custom race applications developed for different events (triathlon, bike racing, running, etc) and with each developed application there are mandatory fields that registrants have to put in information.  Civicrm is combining all of these mandatory fields from each application into one page (I hope that makes sense) and thus nothing can be finalized.
Does anyone know how to keep each unique application seperate?  I have a feeling that this is why nobody goes into a "registered" status.  Is this a glitch within civicrm that can be fixed?
There should be a way to keep everything seperate since civicrm allows one to create custom fields/custom events.

I would use Find Contribution >> find contribution records that are associated with event registration which are pending. Then using batch action "Update Pending Contribution Status" you can change status to "Complete". This will automatically change participant status to "Registered".

If you are using CiviCRM prior to v2.2, you cannot define custom data specific to each event.

We have implemented this feature ie. ability to define Custom Data specific to Event in CiviCRM v2.2 which is now in beta stage.

Kurund,

Thank you for the info.  I will get to work on this immediately and will discuss with our IT people about implementing these necessary updates.  Thanks again.
