Data Import and Export

How much access will we have to the internals and how easily is data exported?  The basic issue is having our data held hostage in any CRM.  I understand this is a broad question, but some idea of where to look would be good.

Also is there a data map somewhere?

Since the install is on your own server space, you have full control over the database.  You can see the database layout can be seen in  the link above.

CiviCRM has a good import/export tool.  You can import members, memberships, contributions, event registrations and more.
