Deleting defunct contacts

Hi I couldn't find this so I apologise if its already been asked!

I've just uploaded around 12000 contacts from messy records. I need to sort out the old defunct email addresses  (and delete them) from the current good email addresses.

Whats the best method of doing this?

yu might want to explain a bit more on what you consider an "old defunct email addresses" vs a "current good email addresses"

most likely this is specific to your install, so u'll need to do some custom coding

Old defunct email addresses -  Email addresses which no longer exist/have been entered incorrectly/returned mail

Good email addresses - the ones that receive mail
