I'm trying to install either the 2.1 stable or 2.2 of CiviCRM.

I tried the directory method and get the zip compatiblity error message. I don't know how to use a shell so that's out of the question.

What is odd is when I try to use the auto-install method, where you browse for the install file and hit upload....it acts like it's trying to install and then suddenly goes right back to the admin panel with no messages at all. No directories or sql are created.

Anyone else see something like this?

The next 2.2 beta (tomorrow) will have a ... joomla-alt.zip download which doesn't have the zip compatibility requirement. Would be awesome if you could try that out in your environment.

I couldn't auto install this alt.zip version but a directory install worked like a charm!
